Services

North East Mobile Health Services provides comprehensive medical transportation, both emergent and non-emergent in nature. Services include emergency medical response, emergency and non-emergency transfer services, paramedic intercept and back-up services, air medical and critical care transfers and wheelchair van transportation. Our primary service areas include Greater Portland, Bath/Brunswick and all of southern Maine including hospitals and other healthcare facilities in Biddeford, Sanford, Kennebunk and York. We can also provide routine and critical care ground transportation anywhere in the Northeast and air transportation to virtually any point on the globe. We also offer a wide variety of educational services and special event coverage.

Emergency Medical Services

North East Mobile Health Services provides emergency response to a number of Maine communities including Bowdoinham and Durham. We also respond to emergencies at a large number of nursing homes, assisted living facilities and boarding homes within our catchment area. From our Portland office we often provide paramedic intercept services to neighboring communities such as Falmouth. We are licensed at the Paramedic level, ensuring that the highest level of prehospital care is delivered to the patients that we serve.

Routine Transfer Services

North East is able to provide prompt, efficient and professional medical transportation for patients requiring routine transfers. Whether transportation is needed for a physician's appointment, diagnostic tests, dialysis or a discharge to a nursing home, North East is able to meet the needs of thousands of patients every year with the highest standard of care. We can transport a patient to a nursing home around the corner or to a hospital in Boston, New York or Philadelphia. Depending on the needs of the patient, service can be provided at either the Basic or Advanced Life Support level.

Emergency Transfer Services

North East takes particular pride in its ability and reputation for being able to provide high quality emergency transfer services 24 hours a day. Whether transporting a serious trauma patient to Maine Medical Center or a critical cardiac patient to a Boston hospital, North East is able to meet the challenge with its staff of highly trained paramedics and state of the art ambulances. All paramedics at North East maintain certification in ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) and PHTLS (Prehospital Trauma Life Support). They have also completed the Maine EMS Interfacility Transfer Module that permits them to administer and monitor medications beyond the scope of standard paramedic practice. In the near future our paramedics will be taking a nationally recognized 120 hour course in critical care transport that will further expand their knowledge and allow them to provide an even greater level of service to our patients and healthcare facilities.

From transporting the acutely ill cardiac patient to a serious trauma patient, North East Mobile Health Services has the staff and equipment to facilitate expedient and professional transfers.

Wheelchair Van Transportation

Supplementing our Ambulance service is the Wheelchair Van Division of North East. Our fleet of wheelchair accessible vans are routinely available to transport patients to medical appointments and diagnostic tests that do not require the services of an ambulance. For a patient who is not bed-confined, wheelchair van transportation is generally more cost effective and wheelchair van services are often covered by the State of Maine Medicaid program. Whether you are traveling a short distance to see your doctor or going to Boston for a diagnostic test, our trained van operators will provide prompt, friendly and professional service from door-to-door.

Air Medical Transport Services

Effective July, 2002, North East is now able to offer fixed-wing air medical transportation at the Advanced Life Support level to any point on the globe. We are fully licensed as an air medical provider by the State of Maine and authorized to operate by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration). For further information, please go to our Flight Page.

Critical Care Transport

North East, in association with Maine Medical Center in Portland, has launched a critical care ground service that will provide acutely ill and injured patients with the highest possible level of care during interfacility transportation. Our new Critical Care teams will consist of a critical care Registered Nurse, a specially trained critical care paramedic and a driver. Please see our Critical Care page for further information.

NICU/PICU

North East is pleased to be partnered with the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital. North East maintains and operates the "Angle One", a state of the art Neonate and Pediatric Critical Care Transport Vehicle.

Special Event Coverage

North East has many years of experience in providing on-site medical standby coverage at a wide variety of special events and mass gatherings. We cover athletic events such as football games and road races, agricultural fairs, concerts, commencement exercises, festivals and conferences, to name a few.
In the past we were proud to work with the Untied States Navy Medical Corps in covering the Great State of Maine Air Show with more than one hundred thousand attendees. In 2000, we covered the Maine Family Motor Coach Convention in Brunswick where more than 20,000 people were in attendance. We also routinely cover fairs in Topsham and Cumberland, Bowdoin College commencement exercises and provide paramedic staffing for the Maine Responder, an emergency response vessel stationed in Portland Harbor, when it is activated to cover an emergency. Whatever the need, North East has the resources and experience to provide competent, professional coverage. For further information call our Brunswick or Portland office.
